The movie has been scripted and directed by Nagesh himself, while it is produced by Percept Picture Company and T-Series, under the banner SIC Productions. John Abraham and newcomer Sonal Sehgal play the main leads for the flick. The fresh and soothing lyrics have been penned by Mir Ali Husain, Sameer, Kumaar and Shakeel Sohail, and composed by Salim Merchant, Pritam and Shiraz Uppal. ‘Aashayein’ is due for a 27th August, 2010 release.

‘Aashayein’ revolves around an addicted gambler who lives like there’s no tomorrow, but what happens when, on one fine day, he finds that his life is limited to a few days only? Rahul Singh (John Abraham) is a compulsive gambler who wins Rs. 20 million through a bet. Upon winning such a huge sum, he decides to throw a lavish party to celebrate the occasion. The atmosphere is filled with fun and enjoyment depicting all the necessary ingredients of a typical party - hard drinking and dancing till the wee hours. To add on to the celebration mood, Rahul proposes to girlfriend Nafisa (Sonal Sehgal) and announces his engagement to her.

Here, comes the twist in the easy-going story. Rahul collapses only to land in the hospital bed and realize that he has only three months to live. To make the best out of his life, he leaves all his worldly pleasures behind and shifts to a relaxing and soothing hospice, which brings forward a new meaning to Rahul’s life. ‘Aashayein’ emphasizes on Rahul’s journey from darkness to light, hatred to love and life to death. With a fresh and bright concept in hand, will Nagesh Kukunoor be able to woo the audience this time, like he did with ‘Iqbal’ and ‘Dor’. Let’s wait till 27th August, 2010 when the movie releases and see whether Nagesh and John’s ‘Aashayein’ succeeds or not."
