Watch out Kollywood, Meera Jasmine is coming in with a bang! With Pen Singam, Meera would be seen in a new garb entirely. And what a garb! The beauty would portray the role of an IPS officer, straight down to the uniform. Of course, female police officers are a dime a dozen when it comes to movies, but well, this one is with a difference.

The difference lies in the script, which is rumored to be adopted from the book ?Surulimalai?, which has been written by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M Karunanidhi. This makes Meera Jasmine?s role all the more different, and the role is challenging to her, as she revealed.

Meera would be seen as the fighter against male oppression in a society which is predominately patriarchal. She would be seen as taking up the causes of the underprivileged and the weak. She would also be working for female liberation, and the director, Bala Srirangam, is really excited about the project and the good way it is turning up. Sudarshana Sen would be seen in the movie too, in a sultry, sexy role, opposite Richard, who plays a Tamil orator. Meera has been paired against the Telegu heartthrob Uday Kiran.
