Debutante director Arun Bhaskar's Parayaan Marannathu revolves around the life of a tailor Chandran (Biju Menon) in a small village called Kannadipuzha. Chandran, a man of simplicity, is kind and lovable and is deeply attached to his family, comprising his wife Rema and daughter Maalu. The movie begins with Chandran's happy life and peaceful coexistence with his family and neighbours.

Chandran has a neighbour Madhavi, who washes clothes for a living and has a very unpleasant past. Born in a rich family, she fell into dire straits after her husband and her family rejected her owing to some reasons. After her husband left her, she came to Kannadipuzha village with a determination to take over the responsibility of brining up her daughter Gauri, who is now a plus-two student. Basically, they both have their own mental agonies.

Manikantan, a young man in the village, always tries to help Madhavi and Gauri. The real intension behind his empathy to them is to woo Gauri, but she never reacts to his advances or proposals. Into this situation comes another young guy, who brings a dramatic change in the life of Gauri, forming the climax of the film.

Actor Biju Menon becomes Chandran in Parayaan Marannathu while Lakshmi Sharma does the role of Rema. Debutante Vidya plays the role of Gauri and Arun becomes Manikantan. Also in the cast are K.P.A.C. Lalitha, Kalalranjini, Kozhikode Naryanan Nair, Madhupal, Baby Parvathy, T.T. Usha, Sooraj Venjaranmoodu, Jaffer Idukki, Githa Balan, Munshi Venu, Lalu B. Paul and others.
