A pot-boiler that is sure to take the audience in for a surprise! Focusing on the centrally most piping hot Red Alert: The War Withinissue of the country, ‘Red Alert: The War Within’ has everything that a modern cinema lover would love to indulge in. Bollywood has come of age, and looks like writers and directors have accepted the change bang on. Directed by Ananth Narayan's to the script of Aruna Raje, the film is a riveting saga that portrays how an innocent man falls into the group of the fugitives, for the sake of his bread and butter. Not only does the flick targets the most important turmoil that the country is dealing with, but it picks up a real life incident and puts it to reel.
Suniel Shetty plays the role of a protagonist Narsimha, whose job is to supply food to a band of Naxals, holed up in a forest. One unfortunate day, he gets caught in the crossfire between the Naxals and the cops that involuntarily leads to his joining the group. So, from being a mere cook, who only wished to earn the daily bread for his family, to being trained in weapons, shootouts and kidnapping, Narsimha finds a new direction for his life, something which he never wished or bargained for. However, worse is yet to strike him, as he finds himself at the gun point of both, the law and the militants, thanks for his confrontation. The story brilliantly unfolds the change in the character of Narsimha, from being a naïve cook to being a political bandwagon.
In the season of political drama for Bollywood, ‘Red Alert: The War Within’ truly escalates the expectations and anticipations of the audience. Right from the first scene till the last, you would be gaping at the nuances in the life of the once-so-green Narsimha. The movie does not only boast of a powerful storyline, but proudly forwards an influential execution as well. The screenplay is crisp and up-to-the-mark and so is the cinematography. The action sequences in the movie are authentic and bona fide. ‘Red Alert: the War Within’ can be claimed as Ananth Narayan Mahadevan’s best work till date. It projects him as an excellent storyteller, who has mastered the art exhibiting even a difficult subject in a gripping manner.
The best feature about ‘Red Alert: The War Within’ is that each actor has chipped in his/her best to give the movie its appealing status. While Suniel Shetty is a big revelation, out of his customary romcom shows, Ashish Vidyarthi is outstanding on his part. Sammera Reddy looks completely exemplary in her de-glam avatar and gives in a headstrong performance. Ditto for Seema Biswas and Ayesha Dharkar, who lend forward a supremely efficient performance! Naseerudin Shah and Vinod Khanna are earnest and engrossing and would keep you at the edge wanting for some more spectacular scenes. What falls short of ‘Red Alert: The War Within’ is the climax. An engrossing tale is not expected to finish with a presumed and predictable climax!
Last Call: “Red Alert: The War Within” is an enthralling film that portrays realism in the confines of the Censor Board. Go for it and take a dive into some real drama on the reel!
