Having made a mark with films like ‘Pandi’ and ‘Mayandi Kudumbathar’, director Rasu Madhuravan is now ready to release his next titled ‘Goripalayam’, which according to him is a film that deals with the reason behind gang wars in Madurai.Joining hands with Rasu Madhuravan this time is producer Michael Rayappan of Global Infotainment, who’s ‘Naadodigal’ made waves in Tamil film industry last year.

A host of young actors like Vikranth, Harish of ‘Mathi Yosi’ fame, Ramakrishnan of ‘Kunguma Poovum Konjum Puravum’ fame and Prakash, Raghuvannan (son of actor Manivannan) are playing lead roles in the film, which has seven songs set to tunes by Sabesh-Murali. Cinematography is by Bala Barani, who wielded the camera of ‘Mayandi Kudumbathar’.

Says Rasu Madhuravan, “I was born and brought up in Madurai. For me, my hometown is everything. I think I can do justice to my craft only if I do movies on the land where I grew up. Moreover Madurai has a rich tradition and culture.”

Thanking the producer, he says, “At a time when producers prefer formula commercial films, Michael Rayappan believed in my story and encouraged me to make a family entertainer. I am hopeful that the audiences would accept ‘Goripalayam’ like they welcomed Mayandi Kudumbathar.”

Throwing more light on the movie, he says, “I want my films to be different from each other. Variety is the spice of life. Human emotions and sentiments will form the crux of Goripalayam. I believe things are portrayed in a realistic and beautiful way in the movie.”

On his part, cinematographer Bala Barani says, “Though I had worked in some films earlier, being part of the ‘Mayandi Kudumbathar’ crew gave me delight. My association with Rasu Madhuravan continues in ‘Goripalayam’ too. It is a realistic story sans fantasy and I decided that my work should be natural and not affect the story’s flow.”The cinematographer, who is a protégé of acclaimed cameraman M S Prabhu, is confident that the cinematography goes hand-in-hand with the story, and it will be appreciated by the masses. “Goripalayam is an important film in my career,” he says.

The Story : Goripalayam film is about violence. This is not the truth. This film speaks about why the youths are being forced into violence. There is always a feeling that when we hear that word Madurai, it means violence.
