Produced by Kalpathi.S.Aghoram, directed by Simbhu Devan (who certainly has the talent to handle such themes), this ‘Cowboy’ movie is eagerly looked forward to, appearing as it does almost 38 years after actor Jaishankar did such a movie. The hero is Raghava Lawrence and he is paired with three heroines- Padmapriya, Lakshmi Rai and Sandhya. We also have Manorama, Mouli, Vaiyapuri, M.S.Bhaskar, Nasser and many others essaying supporting roles.
G.V.Prakash, fresh from his ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ success, scores music for this movie. All lyrics are by Vairamuthu.

A rugged masculine number with strong rhythms and some quirky instrumental bits. The rap bits are neat and the song has been sung well. Could go up the charts.
Nenjam Nenjam...
Vocals: G.V.Prakash, Harini, Sulabha
This is another cute number with just a touch of blithe Caribbean rhythms and some cheery trumpet notes. The lyrics stress the importance of combining intelligence with valor. Well sung by Tippu and is likely to be relished well too.
War Theme...
Vocals: Rahul Nambiar
This piece starts off purposefully and then turns into a cocky, comical one. The sudden flute notes are so delightful they make you smile! Ends with an amusing flourish too.
Kanna Nee Ennai...
Vocals: Bombay Jayashri, Navin Iyer, D.A.Srinivas
Now, this song catches you totally unawares, being in the classical mode! Based on the Madhukauns (or Sumanesaranjani, as some would say) ragam, this song holds your attention for its lovely use of ‘jatis’, mrudangam,ghatam and flute. The swirl of notes in the elongated ‘vaaa—‘is dramatic. The song of a lovelorn lady calling out to her beloved, it is likely to be savored for the mood change it offers. Have the mrudangam and flute players sung the jatis as well?
Raja Singam...

All the ‘cowboy movie’ sounds are in place-clicking revolvers, neighing horses, pealing church bells etc; but what gives it an amusing touch is the use of lighthearted lyrics. Probably introduces the hero Lawrence Raghava! The guitars are businesslike in this number which seems to be a comical interpretation of ‘Pump It’ by Black Eyed Peas.
IKMS Theme...
Solemn notes from the trumpet, trombone and possibly harmonica, but a trifle monotonous.
Verdict:
G.V.Prakash has attempted something novel and offbeat this time, in keeping with the theme of the film. A credible storyline can add color to the songs on screen.
