After the realistic look on the ‘Fashion’ industry, Madhur Bhandarkar is all set to provide the audience a peek into the realities of prison, with his upcoming drama flick ‘Jail’. With a star cast boasting of names like Neil Nitin Mukesh and Mugdha Godse in the main leads and Manoj Bajpai and Ashish Sharma in the supporting cast, the movie is all set to hit the theaters on November 6, 2009. It has been produced by Shailendra Singh and will come out under the banners ‘Percept Picture Company’ and ‘Bhandarkar Entertainment’.
The story of ‘Jail’ revolves around the life of Parag Dixit (Neil Nitin Mukesh), a guy who seems to be living a dream life. He has a great job, a stable career and a loving girlfriend Maansi (Mugdha Godse). Everything in his life is just perfect. One fine day in his life changes it all. He becomes a victim to a series of unfortunate events and ends up becoming a prisoner in jail, where he is handcuffed and beaten up by the cops for no reason at all. In this alien land, he is bewildered, worried and hurt. No matter how far he tries to run away from the ugly truth, it is always there to stare him in the face.
The more Parag thinks that what is happening with is all a basddream, the more he finds himself succumbing to the prison anarchy. The only person who helps him in keeping his sanity intact is Nawaab (Manoj Bajpai), a convict and a warden. He is the only person who believes that Parag is innocent. With time, Parag comes to understand the inner mechanism of the prison, which has resulted in the pitiful state of affairs. He comes to know of people with broken hearts and crushed souls, whose only comfort is within the confines of prison. Now, he has only two choices with him - either to live this way (being controlled and exploited) or fight against the system! What will he do?

Parag is perplexed and in a place far from his utopian life. He tries hard to face away from the ugly truth and wish it's all a bad dream but soon succumbs to the prison anarchy. The only salvation he finds is in Nawab, a convict and a warder who believes that Parag is innocent. Soon, Parag discovers the inner mechanism and the science responsible for the wretched status inside the prison and hordes of broken hearts and shattered souls which managed to find comfort amidst the four prison walls. He is left with a choice, to either live a life that controlled and exploited or fight against the system!
