Simultaneous production of drama and its theatrical version increases efficiency
Generalization of digital shooting breaks down barriers of human resources & technology
Respect of different ways of producing broadcast programs and movies brings higher efficiency

Combination of movie & TV drama continues to evolve. Exchange between Chungmuro, Korean equivalent to Hollywood, and Yeo-ui-do, hub of broadcasting networks, was born as filmmakers produced TV dramas and drama PDs made movies. The exchange has brought the boom of 'Cross Over' such as 'TV Movie' and 'Theatrical Version'. Recently, there is an increasing number of works whose two versions as TV drama and movie were simultaneously made even in the stage of planning. The film andbroadcasting industries expect this kind of 'format convergence' to be a chance to increase efficiency and quality in each genre and call for thorough preparedness based on understanding of features that each medium has.
◇'The Relation of Face, Mind and Love'

Unlike "IRIS", 'The Relation of Face, Mind and Love (released on Nov. 5)' is the first part of 'Tele Cinema7' project organized by Samhwa Networks, aproduction company of dramas such as 'Mom's Dead Upset' and 'First Wives' Club'.
A newly coined term of broadcasting and film, 'Tele Cinema 7' is a joint project of Korea and Japan. Japanese writer is in charge of scenario and Korean director in production. 7 works with 120 min each are aired in TV and hit the screen in Korea and Japan, respectably.

Following 'The Relation of Face, Mind and Love' (starring Lee Ji-ah and Kang Ji-hwan) directed by Lee Jang-soo of 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Love Story in Harvard', what is aired on TV and coming to theaters are '19-Nineteen' (starring Top (Choi Seung-hyeon), Seung Ri and Heo I-jae) directed by PD Jang Yong-woo ("Hotelier"), 'Postman to Heaven' (starring Hero Jae-joong & Han Hyo-joo) directed by PD Lee Hyeong-min ("Sorry, I Love You"), "Triangle" (Ahn Jae-wook & Kang Hye-jeong & Lee Soo-kyeong) directed by PD Ji Yeong-soo ("My Fair Lady"), "Paradise" (Kim Ha-neul & Ji Jin-hee) directed by PD Lee Jang-soo, 'After the Banquet' (Sin Seong-woo & Ye Ji-won) directed by PD Kim Yoon-cheol ("My Name is Kim Sam-soon") and 'A Dream Comes True' (Cha In-pyo & Kim Hyo-jin) directed bv Jang Yong-woo.

That's why drama version of a movie, "Freind, Our Story" was over with such low viewership and movies produced by PD-turned-film directors such as 'Romantic Island' received harsh criticism that it was nota movie but a 2-hour trendy drama. "Take as an example Japan where 'Production Committee' consisting of experts from movie, broadcasting and publication is put into place. The broadcasting sector is so influential that unique features of a movie are not well reflected. Rather, works without distinctiveness and stereotyped works tend to be made in mass", said Jung Ji-wook,a movie critic, "I hope the convergence of movie and drama is a chance to overcome the limits of the two genres and to maximize synergy effects with understanding and respect of the two genres"
Two members of the boy band Big Bang have been cast in the TV movie "19-Nineteen".
